Article Abstract:

Cytogenetic analysis at the time of second-trimester pregnancy termination may be highly successful without the trauma of additional earlier testing. Researchers were able to determine the type of abnormality in 99% of 258 dilations and evacuations, including 67 fetal deaths. This success rate makes predetermining fetal abnormalities prior to termination obsolete.
