Article Abstract:

Holistic nursing strategies can help patients with long-term life-threatening illnesses, such as HIV, handle spiritual crises. These nursing strategies are based on theories formulated by several holistic scientists. Nurses can listen to, encourage, pray with, and share with these seriously ill patients. Research has shown hope to be a significant spiritual attribute for HIV-positive patients living a healthy lifestyle.

Spirituality in nursing from a Japanese perspective

Article Abstract:

Research into the concept of spirituality and its expression among members of a Japanese farming community is presented. Attention is also given to how Japanese nurses are currently giving spiritual care. It is concluded that spiritual well-being can be seen as being content with life and living harmoniously with nature and others.
