The Supreme Court ruling on the Roe v Wade case on January 22, 1973 regarding the legalization of abortion did not result in the expected outcomes 25 years later. Abortion remains to expensive, adolescent pregnancy and unplanned pregnancy became more rampant. The freedom of choice given to women in 1973 remains to be vital in 1998.

Right wing religious fundamentalists have become a threat to women who value the right to choose to have an abortion. Many Republicans are trying to push through legislation that will limit or prohibit abortion, and more fanatics are resorting to intimidation and violence.
