This article discusses the agreement between Myriad Genetic Laboratories and the National Institutes of Health over the costs of cancer susceptible genes BRCA1 and BRCA2. The company owns the patents on the breast and ovarian cancer causing genes, and has agreed to sell them to the institute at reduced rate, as long as they are used for research.

The identification of EMSY, a binding partner for BRAC 2 bolsters the finding that sporadic breast cancers rarely have BRCA 2 or BRCA 1 mutations. The BRAC-2/EMSY complex formation facilitates sporadic breast cancer.
