Quantitation of vital bleaching by computer analysis of photographic images

Article Abstract:

Measurements of the color intensity of teeth that have undergone at-home tooth bleaching is an affordable and very accurate method of evaluating the effectiveness of bleaching. Teeth are often compared to standardized tooth models of various colors to quantify and assess the whitening process. Researchers compared tooth photographs from three dental patients undergoing tooth bleaching, and photographs of tooth models from a tooth shade scale. The photographs were analyzed by computer to determine the mean intensity of blue light reflected (MPIb). Computer-based brightness comparisons based on MPIb values were highly accurate, compared to simple visual comparisons.

An evaluation of DNA yield, DNA quality and bite registration from a dental impression wafer

Article Abstract:

The amount and quality of the DNA captured in bite registrations using dental impression wafer is examined. Results showed that the bite registrations and stone models had an average of 14% mismatches, demonstrating that the dental impressions captured DNA but they did not produce accurate representation of the dentition.

Clinical evaluation of a combined in-office and take-home bleaching system

Article Abstract:

A clinical trial with ten people was conducted to seek quicker and easier means to bleach teeth while maintaining safety in bleaching procedures. Clinicians can reduce the time required to complete tooth-whitening treatment by using the combination of in-office and at-home bleaching technique.
