Out of control.?

Article Abstract:

Deaths and morbidity from asthma are increasing, possibly due to improved diagnosis, or sometimes because of overuse of bronchodilators. Many practice nurses now run asthma clinics where the patient can receive education about the condition and use of inhalers and have their peak flow monitored. There is controversy over the use of bronchodilators and steroids for asthma patients due to side effects such as skin problems and growth retardation.

Natural healing

Article Abstract:

The Lancaster Clinic, a naturopathic clinic in England where only natural remedies are used, was set up in 1996 by a disillusioned nurse Jane Dean. A free clinic on Saturdays for children led to the formation of a charity to help sick children.

Managing chronic pain in children

Article Abstract:

Guidance for nurses on the management of chronic pain in children is presented. A multidisciplinary approach by the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Glasgow, involving anesthetist, pediatrician, psychologist and the child, is described.
