Article Abstract:

The report from the National Director Emergency Access states that the Winter Report despite appearing on the day after the official ending of winter has improved in the last two years, thus enabling to provide the patient care and experience beyond recognition. A review of the European Working Time Directive, a new consultant contract to make arrangements for admitted emergencies that came into force on 1 August 2004 is presented.

The BAEM meeting in Liverpool studied a mixture of mainstream, and non-mainstream, emergency medicine topics. The European Working Time Directive and changes in staffing is expected to affect the working lives patterns, and training of the BAETA staff, and the report also states that a joint effort was necessary to provide actual services overnight in hospitals by a medically qualified person.

The new President of the BAEM

Article Abstract:

Martin Shalley who became the new President of BAEM stated that Europe was a big opportunity for them to get involved in emergency case. He also pointed out that if they want people to come and work with them in emergency medicine than they will have to get involved in setting pan-European standards.
