Companies should evaluate how their workers handle contaminated clothing and gear to make sure that hazardous substances are not brought out of plants and into employees' homes. Companies should obtain accurate information on material safety and chemicals handling as well as develop detailed safety practices concerning the removal, cleaning and disposal of contaminated gear. The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health contamination prevention guidelines suggest that workers be required to shower and change clothes before they leave the workplace.

Employers should realize that periodic health screening of employees is a necessary procedure that would also translate to economic benefits for the business. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has mandated that periodic health screenings should be conducted and this has some employers concerned about costs. However, employee health problems may be screened out and corrected before they turn into bigger problems and this actually translates into economic benefits for the business.

Teen workers are more at risk of getting injured at work because of inexperience, fatigue and physical limitations. Organs and bones mature at different rates for teens making them susceptible to illness while their inexperience and age tells that they yet lack the cognitive tools to ensure safe work. Moreover, emotional problems and thought processes are yet unorganized in handling work.
