Hypertension drugs: they can treat more than high blood pressure

Some drugs that are prescribed to treat hypertension may also offer other health benefits including heart failure, diabetes or enlarged prostate symptoms. Each of the several types of book pressure control drugs works in different ways. Diuretics help eliminate sodium and water form the body, beta blockers relax the heart beat, ACE inhibitors relax blood vessels. Other types of include angiotensin II receptor blockers, calcium channel blockers, alpha blockers and central-acting agents.
