HIV-inducing factor in cervicovaginal secretions is associated with bacterial vaginosis in HIV-1-infected women

Article Abstract:

A study examined whether HIV-inducing factor (HIF) was associated with bacterial vaginosis (BV) for which HIF was measured in unheated and heated cervicovaginal lavage (CVL) fluid obtained from HIV-1-infected women and compared with the presence of BV by Nugent scores, other genital tract conditions and cevicovaginal HIV-1 shedding. The association of HIF with BV is confirmed and is attributed to the heat-stable component.

Frequency of gynecologic follow-up and cervical cancer screening in the Swiss HIV cohort study

Article Abstract:

The factors associated with frequency of gynecologic follow-up and cervical cancer screening among HIV-infected women followed in the Swiss HIV Cohort Study (SHCS) were analyzed. Results reveal that gynecologic care among HIV-positive women followed in the SHCS is not satisfactory even though all these women were followed by an infectious disease specialist.
