Article Abstract:

Acadia National Park in Maine's Mount Desert Island was established in 1916, and was partially destroyed by a week-long fire in 1947. The fire led to new growth of maple, beech and oak trees that change color in the fall. There are 112 miles of trails in the park, and motor vehicles are banned from the area. Information for park visitors is included.

Walking on the world's edge

Article Abstract:

A traveler describes a walking tour in the region known as Cinque Terra, or Five Lands, in Italy. Some of the best trails in Italy are along the Five Lands, which includes Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore.
