Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to test that the uterine mast cell degranulation alters human myometrial contractility in vitro and to define what mediators are involved in this process. Results indicate that uterine mast cell degranulation, or the effects of their mediators, can modulate uterine contractility during pregnancy.

Article Abstract:
Uterine contractions are regulated by guanylate cyclase in its soluble and particulate forms. Guanylate cyclase is an enzyme that creates cyclic GMP. The enzyme can occur in body fluids in a soluble form or in a membrane as the particulate form. Researchers put samples of rat uterus in culture and stimulated them with nitric oxide and atrial natriuretic peptide, which stimulate the soluble and particulate form of the enzyme, respectively. Both chemicals inhibited uterine contraction.
