Nurse prescribing: continuing education and support
Article Abstract:
UK nurses will need to undertake a course of continued education in the field of prescribing if plans for the registration of up to 26,000 nurse prescribers, by the year 2001, become reality for the government. Support and advice will be on offer for nurse prescribers from the National Prescribing Centre (NPC), which will provide regular and updated material on prescribing law and practice. Advice is also expected to come from community pharmacists who have a through knowledge of medicines and the amounts necessary to make up prescriptions.

Continuing care of burn-injured patients
Article Abstract:
The long-term physical and emotional impact of suffering a burn injury requires a comprehensive medical care approach from all aspects of the nursing profession. It is important to constantly monitor pain levels of burns victims, especially during times of dressing changes, which can be extremely painful. Mobility is usual limited if the burns are infected or complications have arisen after surgery. Nurses can provide additional psychological care for patients who may take a long time to come to terms with their injuries.
