Clinical and ultrasonographic features of dextroposition of the fetal heart
Article Abstract:
Determination of dextroposition, when a fetus' heart is on the right side of its chest, is important and routine echocardiograms should be done to identify this problem. When a fetus' heart is on the right side of its chest, there are usually other abnormalities present. In examining 2,882 echocardiograms done over a period of six years, 297 had abnormalities. Of these, 14 had dextroposition, more than half of which included abnormal development of organs.

Use of the mitral valve-tricuspid valve distance as a marker of fetal endocardial cushion defects
Article Abstract:
The mitral valve-tricuspid valve distance in second-trimester fetuses with normal cardiac anatomy is compared with those fetuses with endocardial cushion defects. Studies confirm a positive correlation between mitral valve-tricuspid valve distance (M-T Ds) and gestational age.

Rotational versus nonrotational forceps: maternal and neonatal outcomes
Article Abstract:
The Leff rotational forceps appears to cause less damage to mother and baby during difficult vaginal deliveries. In a study of 267 deliveries, there were fewer episiotomies, lacerations and fetal head injuries in women who were delivered with the Leff forceps.
