Article Abstract:

Activation of microglia, the resident immune effector cells in the central nervous system (CNS), occurs as a prominent feature early in CNS inflammation, and is a consistent finding the common late-onset neuro-degenerative disorders. Findings from mouse and rat models of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, add weightage to arguments that targeting of inflammatory cells might be a fruitful therapeutic approach.
