A sad thank you

Article Abstract:

A community nurse has gained increased understanding from nursing an AIDS patient through his final weeks. The patient wanted to continue as normally as possible before being allowed to die at home. However, the family feared that nursing care would be difficult to arrange as AIDS was socially unacceptable. The nurse demonstrated lack of discrimination and established a trusting relationship which benefited patient and family. After the patient's death the nurse continued to support the family.
