Article Abstract:

A clinical nurse leader (CNL) is a registered nurse with a master's degree, who is trained to manage a group of patients and delegation, supervising the nurses and other disciplines to achieve an evidence-based care delivery and to optimize patient care outcomes. Several organizations are taking many steps to plan the up-front investment for the education of such nurses, as it will also help in reducing the high costs of staff recruitment.

Hunterdon case study

Article Abstract:

Transforming Care at the Bedside (TCAB) is a national program, developed to analyze and change the systems to allow nurses to spend more time in direct patient care by promoting the phenomenon of clinical nurse leader (CNL). The Hunterdon Medical Center (HMC) has made several budget plans to improve CNL positioning, as it help in reducing falls, pressure ulcers and infections, in addition to various other quality outcome measures.

Improve PRN effectiveness documentation

Article Abstract:

The Veterans Affairs (VA) Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS), comprising of a registered nurse, a licensed practical nurse, and a pharmacist, has proposed an educational initiative designed to improve the documentation of PRN effectiveness. The team continues to monitor the documentation and provide reports on deficiencies and outliers to nursing and facility leadership, and in the future.
