A 71-year-old man with diarrhea and abdominal pain was diagnosed with an inflammation of his gastrointestinal tract caused by cytomegalovirus. He had received a kidney transplant eight years before for end-stage kidney failure. Cytomegalovirus infection is common after an organ transplant.
