Article Abstract:
A 27-year-old man was hospitalized with severe abdominal pain and nausea. A CT scan of his abdomen showed a mass outside the peritoneum, which is the membrane that lines the inside of the abdominal cavity. His doctors suspected that he had a germ cell tumor. These are tumors that arise in the testes or ovaries. The mass was biopsied using a needle and microscopic examination showed that it was a seminoma. An ultrasound scan showed a mass in his right testis, and the testis was removed. No tumor was found in the testis. He was treated with chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
