A list of 30 ways that physicians can make their patients more comfortable is included. It is suggested that a physician select five of the 30 that will work the best for them. There are suggestions on vocabulary to use, appointment preferences and ways to address the patients. There are also suggestions on written and oral communication techniques, confidentiality and making the patient feel special.

Health provider organizations often judge the quality of the services offered by a physician by the quality of the patient case documentation he or she provides them. Some factors affecting provider perceptions of physician services include record legibility, prescription information, meticulousness of date- and time-keeping, and thoroughness of consent discussion notes.

Article Abstract:
Parents with disabled children need honesty, optimism, sensitivity and promptness from their physicians. It is a fine line between honesty and pessimism but these parents need to have hope. Many children have progressed farther than their disabilities were originally perceived to allow because parents continued to hope and work hard with their children.
