Measuring the benefits of clinical decision support: return on investment

Article Abstract:

A theoretical model for healthcare management was developed in an attempt to provide medical organizations an efficient tool for gauging the cost of various decision support activities. The model outlines a comprehensive technique for evaluating the impact of technical and labor resources on health care providers in the context of patient care quality and resource consumption. The proposed framework offers substantial use in analyzing the return on investment not only of inpatient services, but other levels of care as well.
