Article Abstract:
Proteomics is defined as being the characterization of relative abundance, all structures and functions, and the interactions of the complement of proteins in a given entity. By contrast, genomics is defined as obtaining and understanding the complement of genetic information available to a given organism. As such, proteomics is a subset of genomics. This article discusses changes brought about by recent research in both fields upon the other fields.

The field of pharmacogenomics has as its goal to better understand the genetic contribution to that interpatient variability in drug response. This article provides an overview of this field, including current research limitations.
