A dog day rebound

Article Abstract:

The American Hospital Assn's National Hospital Panel Survey of about 2,000 hospitals indicates that hospital admissions rebounded, outpatient visits rose and hospital stays were shorter in Aug 1994. The survey also suggests that supply expenses were reduced due to efforts to reduce the length of hospital stays. Lower raises, reduced health benefit costs and layoffs held labor costs down in Aug 1994. Additional statistics and information regarding Aug 1994 hospital performances are presented.
