Measurement of income inequality: experimental test by questionnaire

Article Abstract:

Fundamental assumptions in measuring income inequality include the transfer principle, decomposability and the population replication. A survey was made of income inequality measurement with students used as respondents both for verbal and numerical questioning. Responses from the students agree with conventional views on population replication, while the transfer principle and the decomposability of income inequality axiom are not widely accepted.

Burglary and income inequality

Article Abstract:

Rises in relative differential inequality boost the level of crime, and the level of crime may be greater under regressive taxation than in richer neighborhoods. It was assumed that a detected burglar is imprisoned for a fixed period of time and that they select target homes employing the signal of house quality. Areas of further studies are the more generally empirical links between income distribution and the different classes of property crime.
