Always one step behind? National legislatures and the European Union
Article Abstract:
Several strategies can be adopted to increase the influence of national legislatures in the European Union's decision-making process. Parliaments and other representational bodies can actively seek information on issues and advocate specific outcomes. They can also incorporate the assistance of specialized standing committees to support particular stances and influence EU policy.

A community of law? 'European' law and judicial politics: the court of justice and beyond
Article Abstract:
The author discusses the relationship between the European Court of Justice and the European Union. Further discussion is given to the strategic role of the European Court, along with other European Union institutions, in the development and maintenance European Community laws. The history and the legal developments which led to the creation of Community law are also explored.
