Parliaments and other representational bodies can actively seek information on issues and advocate specific outcomes. They can also incorporate the assistance of specialized standing committees to support particular stances and influence EU policy.

The author discusses the relationship between the European Court of Justice and the European Union. Further discussion is given to the strategic role of the European Court, along with other European Union institutions, in the development and maintenance European Community laws. The history and the legal developments which led to the creation of Community law are also explored.

A review and critical evaluation is provided of the assessments of European regional integration offered in new constitutionalism and structural dependence theory. The skeptical assessment of the 'progressive' potential of European integration offered by new constitutionalist and structural dependence analysis is dependent on contestable theoretical assumptions.
