Article Abstract:
R.J. Brent has developed a new model for estimating an individual's valuation of life. Unlike previous models, Brent's paradigm does not place monetary values on human life. The model categorizes different time periods in an individual's life in terms of time spent for producing income, ensuring life safety and planning for future growth. Although theoretically feasible, the model contradicts actual human behavior and decision-making.

Article Abstract:
An analysis of the use of non-tariff trade barriers reveals that industries promoting trade protection as a public good provides it privately by lobbying. The study uses data from 4-digit SIC industry data to analyse non-experimental, real-world evidence on the matter. Protectionism was first analysed by Bergstrom et al in 1986 and the findings of the study confirm the earlier study on protectionism.
