Accelerated financial reporting in the federal government-how did it go?
Article Abstract:
The results of accelerated reporting on twenty-four agencies covered by the Chief Financial Officers (CFO) Act and the challenges faced by the agencies to meet the time frames are discussed. The impact of accelerated reporting on the President's Management Agenda goal was to improve the quality, reliability, consistency and timeliness of financial information.

The status of Internet financial reporting (budgets, CAFRs, and popular reporting) by the 100 largest U.S. cities is documented. The research is important to establish a baseline against, which to compare the growth of Internet reporting in light of the new effort by the government financial officers association (GFOA).

Meeting the accelerated deadline

Various challenges faced by Federal agencies in meeting their Performance and Accountability Reports (PAR) by November 15, 2004 are discussed. The experiences and lessons learned by five agencies in meeting the accelerated reporting deadline are also highlighted.
