Since 1961 Ruth Farris has been writing a column for the weekly Machias Valley News Observer in Cutler, ME, in which she describes events in the fishing village. Her writing is personal and often poetic in its celebration of the village's way of life.

Chesahm is a town between Keene and Nashua, NH. It is characterized by chicken farms, cherry trees and gardens. It also features woods and a train depot that made it a popular stop between Keene and Nashua.
