Article Abstract:

A brief review on the efforts behind the KIPP Academy String and Rhythm, composed of African American and Latino kids from a poor background, which holds America's outstanding youth orchestras, four national tours, and a 2002 concert at the most renowned Carnegie Hall is presented. Charlie Randall, the orchestra's founder and music director believes in making kids feel successful through music.

Saving saylor

Article Abstract:

Jason York helped a little girl Saylor Kirkpatrick to save her life by donating his liver to the girl who lay motionless, hooked to a mass of tubes and wires in a Delaware hospital. For the Kirkpatricks, the York and their girls have become "instant family".
