Panning for gold

Article Abstract:

Boy Scout Troop 66 of Marietta, GA, went camping at Dahlonega near Chattahoochee National Forest and the souther tip of the Appalachian Trail. For fun, the boy scouts panned for gold at the Weekend Gold Miners Prospecting Club's 1,000-acre claim.

Surviving the frozen Crater

Article Abstract:

Three Boy Scout troops practiced winter survival skills during a camping trip to Crater Lake National Park in Mar 1995. They wore wool coats that they had made themselves and hiked into the park on snowshoes pulling homemade gear sleds.
