Paglia's two books, 'Sexual Personae' and 'Sex, Art, and American Culture,' have generated controversy over the roles women play in society. Although she considers herself a feminist, she is highly critical of the feminist movement and how liberated women have alienated themselves socially from men.

The New York Times' expansion into six sections is borne not out of a desire to make its readers more informed and better individuals, but to make them buy all the products advertised on the paper. The newspaper's sheer bulkiness would certainly make its reading on the subway more cumbersome.
