The excellent adventure of the Pony Express

Article Abstract:

The Pony Express started delivering mail in Apr. 1860, when Warren Upson covered the 1,966 miles between Missouri and California in 10 days. In 19 months of operation, the express carried 34,753 pieces of mail across 650, 000 miles. The express was later superseded by the transcontinental telegraph.

Article Abstract:

San Francisco Bay Area native Pinetti has become adroit at swimming long distances in, and around San Francisco Bay. The 13-year-old is the youngest to have ever swum from the Golden Gate bridge to the Bay Bridge, a distance of five miles, and may someday attempt to swim accross the English Channel.
