Article Abstract:

Wendy Shalit, Danielle Crittenden, Amity Shlaes and Virginia Postrel are female conservatives whose books reflect the increased merger of left and right politics. For example, Shalit is the author of "A Return to Modesty" which denounces the culture of promiscuity and seeks a return of courtly love. Crittenden, author of "What Our Mothers Didn't Tell Us," critiques feminist legacy with a plea for women to put family ahead of career.

Issues are discussed concerning the alleged affair between Lissa Roche and her father-in-law George Roche III, President of the highly-respected right-wing Hillsdale College, MI. Lissa committed suicide after making the allegations, with Roche a prominent promoter of Christian morality.

Issues are presented concerning the events of the Spanish Civil War which lasted between 1936 and 1939. The enlistment and role of American volunteers fighting in the Abraham Lincoln Brigade is discussed.
