85 years of Scouts in Action

Article Abstract:

The long-standing tradition of Boy's Life to recognize Boy Scouts who have performed courageous life-saving acts is itself being recognized during its 85th anniversary in 1996. The Scouts in Action comic strip first appeared in 1947 as a way to provide national recognition to the heroic deeds of scouts.

Two-fisted action makes stunt fliers soar above the rest

Article Abstract:

Stunt kites differ from traditional kites because they have two strings instead of one. The two strings allow the flyer to steer the kite and perform stunts. Stunt-kite flying should be done in wind conditions of 5 to 10 mph and away from power lines and trees. Other flying tips are included.
