Beer has become an acceptable dinner alternative to wine. Since it is universally available, beer is a popular choice for supper and serves as a good foil for many appetizers and entrees because of its fresh and bitter taste. However, different beers go particularly well with different foods.

Red Zinfandel is a light, fruity wine that goes well with many foods. It is easily grown, is often very reasonably priced, and the current crop is good. Prices are going up, however. A list of some of the best Zinfandels of the 1994 vintage is presented.
