An American writer describes his family ritual, where adults of the family made huge amounts of tomato gravy, using the ripest Sicilian plum tomatoes, in summer every August. Making this gravy was very crucial since without the gravy there would be no macaroni, no manicotti, no lasagna, and no ravioli.
