California offers an array of new and exciting wine products. The North Coast counties of Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino, where the climate is cooler, produce the best sparklers. Consumers, with the current glut of sparkling wines, can enjoy many affordable sparkling wines. Ten recommended vintages are listed.

Rose wine is arguably the best wine for summer. Often mistaken for blush wines, rose is darker, drier and possesses a more distinctive taste that appeals to the more sophisticated drinker. Although priced higher than blush wines, rose is sure to quench a summer thirst.
