The style of the wineries of California of having chefs on the payroll, cooking elaborate meals for visiting VIPs, and having restaurants and cooking classes, is called 'California wine country cuisine'. This phenomenon is highlighted by some of the winery cookbooks, which give avid cooks a good feel for how things are done in California wine country.
