Article Abstract:

Revenues of the top ten wine auctions in the US grew by 61% in 1995 from 1992, totaling $5,013,775. The most profitable auction was the Napa Valley Wine Auction, which garnered total bids of $1.8 mil. Possible reasons for this growth are related charity events and the popularity of travel lots.

Sherry-Lehmann with Sotheby's bring in $1.9 million

Article Abstract:

A Sep 28, 1996, wine auction held in Manhattan resulted in 95% of a 1,267 lot being sold. A 1962 Chateau Latour sold for $5,175 per case, and a 1985 DRC La Tache sold for $5,750 a case. Some good values were available, such as a 1990 case of Chateau L'Arrosee at $518.
