Article Abstract:

California winemakers do not seem to understand that there is a huge market for good, reasonably priced wines. Instead, they seem to be trying to concentrate on creating world-class wines at high prices. In these economic times, they are making a mistake and should try to emulate Australian vintners.

Article Abstract:

A veteran wine writer notices how wine prices have risen dramatically over the past 20 years, but the increases are out of line with quality. A 1994 South African Stellenzicht is an example of a good, inexpensive wine that ended up being marked up greatly.
