Article Abstract:

A wine tasting, organized in Southern California, celebrated the 50th anniversary of celebrated 1947 European wines. Unfortunately, the tasting revealed most of the wines as disappointing, while the Pomerol set of wines was judged the best. Ratings of the various wines are presented.

US wine lovers are now able to buy some of Austria's many excellent wines. A recent history of the country's wine industry is given, and different types of wines are discussed. Labels are explained, and numerous wines are rated on a scale of one to 100.

Chateau Le Pin and Chateau Petrus wines were rated on a 100-point scale. The wines tasted earned ratings ranging from 77 to 98. The wine prices range from $150 to $900. Descriptions of each wine are provided.
