More records fall at Sherry-Lehmann with Sotheby's

Article Abstract:

Sherry-Lehmann Inc.'s two-day New York auction with Sotheby's in Feb 1997 broke previous records with sales of $2.3 mil. The auction, which had 1,852 lots, was 97% sold with a six-case assortment of 1988 vintage red wines from Domaine de la Romanee-Conti selling highest at $52,900 per case.

Sherry-Lehmann Inc. and Sotheby's Inc. broke the record for American auction wine sales in Nov 1995. The wine seller and auction house reported $2 mil in sales during the three-day auction. Sherry-Lehmann reported a 93% sold rate on the 1,446-lot auction.
