Lead capsule warnings set for California

Article Abstract:

The California Attorney General reached $900,000 settlement with several wineries regarding the use of lead closures on wine bottles. The proceeds will go toward consumer education, and wine bottled after Jan 1 will not be permitted to use the lead foil capsules.

Formula for Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay ruled a secret

Article Abstract:

A judge found in favor of the winery and against former Kendall-Jackson winemaker Jed Steele who left to pursue his own winemaking career and was charged with stealing a trade secret, the Chardonnay recipe. Steele won $270,000 in back wages.

California lawsuits target retailers, wineries

Article Abstract:

Wineries and supermarkets are facing lawsuits in the wake of a Food and Drug Administration investigation into the lead content of wine. Law firm Milberg, Weiss, Bershad, Specthrie and Lerach filed a class action suit.
