The well-established Californian wine companies are having strained nerves due to a wine glut, a grape glut, a recession and stiff global competition. However, a new generation of winemakers like Brian Loring, Kris Curran, Mat Garretson, Marc Cuneo, Greg Brewer, Vanessa Wong, Agustin Huneeus Jr., Philippe Melka are expected to have a bright future as they are guided by passion, professional training, commitment to terroir, willingness to take risks on unproven sites and grape varieties.
