Other white grape varieties that can make notable wines are reviewed along with the quality express that is running through Chardonnay and Riesling and earning outstanding ratings is highlighted.

Australia ranks sixth among the world's winegrowing nations in terms of volume produced with a record of 370 million gallons of wine produced by 3,98,000 acres of vineyard in the year 2004. Shiraz, the most widely planted wine grape at 91,500 acres, has entered the global wines drinker's awareness at the top level.
