Australia's new shades

Article Abstract:

Australia offers alternative mid-priced wines to supplement its production of Chardonnay and Shiraz. Among the varieties being produced by the country are Marsanne, Merlot and dessert wines. A total of 14 wines were given a rating of 90 points or more among a sample of 200.

The best wine to come out of Australia in 1999 is the Penfolds Yattarna. This white wine rivals any other in the world. The Penfolds Shiraz line proves to be popular for moderately priced red wines. An analysis of various Australians wines and wineries is presented.
