The reason for the decline of the auction index by 1 percent in the first quarter of 2004 is presented. The comparison of the wine spectator auction index in the first quarter 2004 prices and 2003 prices with a graphical presentation is presented.

First-quarter 2000 auction index rises 1.1 percent

An analysis of the prices reached at wine auctions during the first quarter of 2000 and the last quarter of 1999 is presented. The market for fine wines is buoyant, with Burgundies, Californian and German wines proving popular investments.
