Article Abstract:
The 1997 white Burgundies taste like California-style wines with soft, pleasant, early drinking. The whites are better than the reds, overall, and are more reasonably priced. The top-scoring white Burgundy was Michel Niellon Batard-Montrachet 1997 ($210) with a score of 98 on the 100-point scale. Ramonet's Chassagne-Montrachet Les Vergers 1997 is a more affordable option ($58) and scored 95.
