Cellar notes from eight top domaines point toward a potentially outstanding vintage. The red wines are based overwhelmingly on syrah, showing bright fruit and fresh acidity and the white wines made variously from Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne are even better than the reds in 2004, with crunchy acidity and fresh, minerally finishes and rank as some of the greatest white wines in the world.

The firsthand report on upcoming vintage of the world's finest wines and the tastings at 12 top domaines are presented. The red and white wines of 2003 in a dozen of the top domaines in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, the premier appellation of the Southern Rhone Valley shows outstanding potential and these top wines are expected to become benchmarks for the region.
