2002 Burgundy: A north wind before harvest turns disaster to triumph

Article Abstract:

The 2002 vintage is considered as one of Burgundy's best in decades as it has earned a classic rating in the Cote de Nuits and an outstanding rating in the Cote de Beaune. The Charmes-Chambertin from Dupont-Tisserandot, Vincent Girardin Chambertin-Clos de Beze Vieilles Vignes, Henry Perrot-Minot Mazoyeres-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, Meo-Camuzet's Richebourg and G. Roumier's Musigny are some of the particular standouts in 2002.

2003 Burgundy: A record-breaking heat wave produces extraordinary ripeness

Article Abstract:

The 2003 Burgundies are rich, ripe, opulent wines, which are marked by a blazing summer and early harvests but they lack the consistency of the uniformly excellent 2002 vintage. Many of the white wines are already being released into the market, whereas a vast majority of top red wines of the vintage are still in barrel and will not be released in the fall 2005.
